What you get with your result

Your result doesn't arrive alone.

You — and everyone you named — receive everything needed to understand the result accurately. Everyone starts from the same facts, at the same time.

The official lab report

From an accredited laboratory.

A plain-language summary

What the result shows, in words anyone can follow.

The chain-of-custody record

Every step from collection to lab, documented.

A direct line to us

Questions from you or any party, answered the same way for everyone.

A result is a number, not a verdict about you.

We explain it the same way to everyone. We don't take sides — and that keeps everyone honest. No one gets to stretch a result into something it doesn't show.

Before you buy a cheaper one

Same lab test. Very different result in court.

You can buy a PEth test online for less. Many of those are medical tests, and the report says so — it's marked for medical use, not forensic. What makes a result hold up in family court is everything around the test: how the blood is collected, the chain of custody (a signed record of every person who handled your sample, from collection to the lab, so no one can claim it was mixed up or tampered with), who receives the result, and who stands behind it.

How it works

Four steps. No appointment hunting.

1
Order and pay online

Tell us who you are and where you'll be collected. After checkout, add who should receive the result and upload your court order if you have one.

2
Get your authorization

We email your paperwork and the nearest collection site, usually within the hour. Bring a government photo ID.

3
A short blood draw

Your ID is checked, the sample is sealed and documented under chain of custody, and it goes to the lab.

4
Results to everyone you named

We send the result directly and explain it to anyone who has questions. And most importantly: someone who can explain to you or your attorney what the result can say and what it can't.

What PEth shows

A look back at drinking over the past few weeks.

PEth forms in the blood only after alcohol is consumed, and it stays there for weeks. That is why courts use it, and why it is often the step before daily monitoring.

Why the number alone isn't enough →
Under 20

Generally light drinking or none.

20–199

The gray area. The number alone can't describe the drinking pattern — this is where an explanation matters most.

200 and over

Heavy alcohol use — more than one drinking episode.

Levels in ng/mL.
Who we are

We don't just ship a PDF.

TrueTest Labs was founded in 2010 by Michael Gammel, a DOT-qualified specimen collector and breath alcohol technician. We've worked on thousands of family court cases — helping attorneys choose the right test, write the order language, and understand honestly what results can and can't say. Michael speaks to family law attorneys and court professionals about testing, and that same experience comes with your test.

Neutral: we explain results the same way to every party.
Your choice: you decide who receives the result when you order.
Confidential: no one you didn't name sees it.
Questions

What people ask before they order.

Do I need a court order?

No. A court order is not needed to test. What is important is that the test is done so the result can be used in court, from the start: your ID is checked, your sample is sealed in front of you, and every handoff is signed. Those steps can't be added after the fact. Done this way, if you need the result for court, it is built to withstand challenge. And having someone who can explain how the test works, and what the result can and can't say, to you, your attorney or the court is priceless. That explanation is what an attorney needs to represent a client the right way. If you already have an order, upload it right after checkout so we can match the test to what it requires.

Who sees my result?

You, plus anyone you name right after checkout — your attorney, the GAL, the other party's attorney or the court. We send it to them directly.

How is this different from Soberlink?

Soberlink checks your breath several times a day. A PEth test is one blood draw that looks back over the past few weeks. Courts use PEth two ways: as a first test to decide whether monitoring is needed, and as ongoing monitoring itself — a PEth test every few weeks covers the time in between, with no device to carry.

Can I cancel?

Yes. If you haven't had your blood draw yet, call us for a full refund.

I'm in a monitoring program. What if my testing ends early?

Buy tests in a package and pay less per test. If the court ends testing before you use them all, unused tests are refunded.

How fast do I get my authorization?

Usually within the hour during business hours. Overnight orders go out by 9 a.m. Central, Saturdays included. Orders placed after 2 p.m. Saturday go out Monday morning, since most collection sites are closed Sundays.

What if there's no collection site near me?

Call us. We may have other options available.

Is my information private?

Yes. We never share your result with anyone outside your case.

How long do results take?

Typically 6 business days after your draw.

Is it available in my state?

Available in most states. Not currently available in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Maryland or Massachusetts.
